How to Plan Solo Bike Trip to Spiti Valley?

Spiti Valley is one of the most surreal places in India and a bike trip to Spiti is an achievement in itself. The best time to visit Spiti is from March to June as driving in winters can be very dangerous. So to make the most of your journey, here is a Spiti Valley bike trip itinerary from Delhi.

Spiti Valley Itinerary For A Solo Bike Trip

  • DAY 1 - DELHI TO NARKANDA

    It involves a distance of about 460 kilometres. Start at 12 am, try to cover the maximum distance and avoid riding in the hills at night. Narkanda is a small town, which in winters becomes a skiing resort and it is 70 kilometres away from Shimla.

    Reach there till late afternoon and spend your night at Narkanda.
  • DAY 2 - NARKANDA TO CHITKUL

    Start riding to Chitkul in the morning. Chitkul is the last village on the China border and has amazing views all around it. The distance from Narkanda to Chitkul is 180 kilometres. Take a good rest and spend your second day exploring this beautiful village.

  • DAY 3 - CHITKUL TO KALPA

    Have your breakfast and start riding to Kalpa. It takes around 3 to 4 hours to reach Kalpa from Chitkul. Explore the views from the suicide point and stay overnight in Kalpa

  • DAY 4 - KALPA TO TABO

    The real journey starts from here and it involves a distance of 150 kilometres. On the ride to Tabo, you will come across Nako valley which is one of the beautiful treasures of Himachal and the road from Nako to Tabo will take you between the valleys and riverbanks. Enjoy the breathtaking views and you will also be able to spot Milkyway from Tabo.

  • DAY 5 - TABO TO KAZA

    The next day, leave for Kaza- the capital of Spiti Valley. On your way visit the Dhankar Monastery. You’ll also come across Hikkim which has the World’s highest post office. After reaching Kaza you can enjoy the tasty food there and also get your bike refilled at the world’s highest fuel station. Enjoy the fantastic views, take some rest and get ready for the next day.

  • DAY 6 - KAZA TO CHANDRATAL LAKE

    The distance from Kaza to Chandratal Lake is 150 kilometres. On your way, visit the Key monastery which is the iconic landmark of Spiti valley and enjoy the scenic beauty of the valley around it.

  • DAY 7 - CHANDRATAL TO MANALI

    The distance between Chandratal to Manali is 160 km. after reaching Manali, head back to Delhi via Sunder Nagar.
